HISTORY OF IVEAGH COUNCIL No. 11

  Grand Council Minutes 8th May 1929  
 
Sir Kt. R. J. Hudson presented a petition signed by ten members of the Order praying for a warrant to establish a Council at Rathfriland to be titled the Iveagh Council. Sir Kt. Hudson in moving that the warrant be issued gave an interesting account of the state of the Order in his district and emphasized the opportunities of the projected Council. His motion was seconded by the Grand Scribe and then Grand Council unanimously granted the petition and ordered a warrant to be issued.
 
Grand Council Minutes of the Foundation meeting of Iveagh Council No. 11 on 21st September 1929. By Virtue of the written authority of the Most Excellent Grand Chief an Occasional Grand Council was held on the 21st September at Rathfriland at 4:30pm for the prupose of constituting the Iveagh Council No. 11 on the Roll of Grand Council. In the presence of a large gathering including representatives from Newry and Belfast the ceremony of constituting the new Council was carried out by Sir Kt. T.J. Smalley. After which the Officers of the Iveagh Council were installed in their respective offices by Sir Kt G.W. Hamill. The occasional Grand Council was then closed.

In the evening the first meeting of the Iveagh Council was held, Sir Kt. R.J. Hudson occupying the chair. The degrees of K of the S., K of the E., and K of the E & W were conferred on their first candidates by the visitors from Dublin.
